Half Way
A late decision to go walkies, start time of 14:50. I had thought about starting from Barley, but it was full! Full of cars, all along the roads and in the car park and in places where they shouldn't have been. It was The Tour of Pendle - a 16.8 mile run for those into that sort of thing. So, I'm quite happy to have left it late and regret what other visitors to Barley will have found and thought.
The Summit Area
The tent may have been a run marshalling point and is being unerected. Those two at the trig had better not hang around too long.
Black Moss Reservoirs
The hint of brightness on Black Moss encourages me that a sunny interval could be on its way.
Summit Hoggers
Five minutes since I spotted them and they are still there and there they remained for another five minutes. This is not acceptable; the top of the fell, mountain or peak is the goal of the fellwalker and visitors must not linger in this manner.
Pendle Sunset
Usually I use the trig as foreground, but the long-haired duo are still there. It's been a really fine day, mostly sunny in East Lancashire and that's not what they said. Very calm up here and quite warm for November.

Phew! Just in time, I get my turn.
Pendle Shale
Here, at the bottom of the descent track, the shale is exposed. Low cloud is now landing on the top of the fell.
Mist Over Pendle
Much as I wish I was still up there, I fear it would be just like being in cloud, which actually is exactly what it would be.
Walkers: Just Me.
Time taken: 1hr 8 mins over a distance of about 2.5 miles.
Route: Roadside parking, up the steps, along the top, down the track and back to the car.
Weather and conditions: Calm, generally overcast with low misty cloud.
Greetings Count: As you can see, there were still a few folk about and more followed me on this fine day.
According to the Oxford English Dictionary, Summit Hogging is the action of individuals or groups, whereby an unfair, unreasonable or inappropriately long period of time is spent at the summit of a fell, mountain or peak, to the detriment of the enjoyment and pleasure of others. A Summit Hogger is one who partakes in such activity; it often involves the taking of refreshments.
